A power supply for a tattoo machine, said power supply comprising: a housing defining an interior cavity adapted to retain electronic components therein; said housing comprising: a first region; a second region that extends upwardly beyond the first region; a third region disposed intermediate the first and second regions and being oriented at substantially right angles to each of the first and second regions, one or more tattooing control members disposed in said first region; said tattooing control members being operationally connectable to the electronic components within said housing; a display screen provided in said second region; said second region being free of tattooing control members; and a protective cover that selectively is applied over one or more of t he tattooing control members and does not engage the display screen.
